This is one of the best possible ways for a bran new investor to go and pick up information on how to do deals. When I first started about 3 1/2 years ago, I had gone to many seminars, bought program after program, talked with my mentor’s online and tried to do what ever I was told to do. But the one thing that all my programs, mentor’s, seminars and other people in the business told me was if I really want to know what is going on especially in my own neighborhood, that I need to get my butt out to any Real Estate Investment Club I can go to.
I say that was the best advice I had received because almost all of the questions I had trying to figure how to get started in the business of investing were answered. This was right here in my own backyard. When I had any question on how to put a deal together, how to get financing or funding, how to find out about the latest legal terms and requirements or any other problems (You as an investor WILL come across at one point or another). The best thing about your local REI Clubs are they only run you anywhere from 15 to 35 dollars to get in and that is just their cost to get a place to hold the meetings. These meeting are about people like you and I that are either starting out or seasoned veterans. These people are more than willing to not only give you their advise but they might even be your first or next business transaction.
Because of the REI Clubs I started doing deals and began recouping some of the thousands of dollars I spent on all that training, seminars and mentor programs. I don’t want to say that all of the steps I took were not necessary but if I had only listen to the first program and seminar I had gone with, I could have saved a lot of money and time. So if you take any of my advice please take this one. Look up a local REI club near you and go. There is usually at lease 1-2 different ones per week you can find.
